January 1st, 2023 Legacy Newsletter

Updated: Jan 9, 2023

Season's Greetings!

Dear Colleagues, As we countdown to the end of year, and begin our 19th year of changing lives, I am so grateful for your support in 2022. We had a great year, and we are looking forward to another amazing year with the support of our volunteers, speakers, donors, and your financial investment. As a result, our students receive a positive trajectory in their lives, and this will impact them for years to come.

In this edition of our newsletter, I want to introduce you to our Torchette of the Year, Favour Akingbemi. She graduated in June and is now attending Yale University. She is just one of our 12 graduating seniors who continue to achieve their goals despite obstacles.

Without your support, this would not be possible for our Torchettes to continue their secondary education. Our graduates are attending Wellesley College, UCLA, Williams College, and UC Berkeley, to name a few. We also honored all of the Torchettes for their accomplishments at our culmination ceremony. For more information on the other outstanding graduates and our program, From the School House to The White House Leadership Academy, please go to our website. www.legacyladiesinc.com.

We also ended the year with a successful golf tournament, Torch Awards on The Greens. This made it possible for us to present each Torchette with a $5,000 scholarship and a laptop, but our work is not done. Each year the leadership academy grows as we support King Drew Magnet High School, Middle College High School, and our Black Student Achievement Program schools: Crenshaw High School, Susan Miller Dorsey High School, and Washington Preparatory High Schools.

As we continue to expand our programs and make college affordable, please consider making your end of the year donation today for our future leaders. Your consideration is greatly appreciated.

Until we meet again, have a safe, healthy, and prosperous New Year!

Happy New Year! The best is yet to come!
