Torch Awards on the Greens

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Dear Valued Supporters,

Because of you, we made history together at our inaugural golf charitable fundraiser, “Torch Awards on The Greens.” Because of you, we entertained 152 golfers at the resort-style Braemar Country Club. Because of you, we have increased our scholarship fund, and we will be able to provide additional resources to our students who participate in our leadership program, “From the School House to the White House Leadership Academy.

In the tradition of the Torch Awards, the honoree for this year’s Torch Awards was Legacy Ladies supporter and advocate, Los Angeles City Councilmember, Paul Koretz, of the 5th district.

He and staff member, Gregory Martayan, Director of Public Safety & Special Assignments, have been true friends and allies of the organization for the past five years. Councilmember Koretz has firmly backed the organizations ongoing academic, scholarship and mentorship initiatives, which has greatly changed the trajectory of the lives of young African American girls. This year was no different. In an unexpected and surprise announcement earlier in the year, Councilmember Koretz awarded a City grant to the organization in the amount of $75,000. The funding provided by Councilmember Koretz is in support of the initiatives and expansion of the leadership academy to other high schools.
